Seasoned Meetings and Event Industry Member to Lead Talley Management Group, Inc. Division

Michael Thompson, CMM, will fill the role of Director of Meeting & Event Services

Talley Management Group, Inc. (TMG), a 33-year-old, employee-owned, leading association management company, welcomed Michael Thompson, CMM, as its new Director of Meeting & Event Services Thompson’s wide background includes working with nonprofit and corporate meetings, as well as within the hotel industry.

“We’re excited to welcome Michael to our team and are looking forward to him leading our meeting and event services team,” said COO Joe Sapp, CAE, MBA. “TMG has operated within the meetings industry for over three decades and we could not be more excited about our future under Michael’s leadership in this role. With the events’ needs of our client partners increasing, we need someone with an extensive background to lead our team. We are ready for Michael to jump right in.”

Michael previously worked at the National Urban League (NUL) for 12 years, where he served as Vice President, Event Marketing. Prior to that, he spent six additional years at the NUL previously as the Vice President of Conferences. Michael’s experience includes corporate event planning at SAP America and for the association APICS via his role with ConferenceDirect. Early in his industry career, Michael held the position as one of the original Sales Managers for the Philadelphia Downtown Marriott.

In addition to his corporate and nonprofit experience, Michael has a background working within the pharmaceutical and high-tech industries. Michael earned his Certified Meeting Management (CMM) designation from Meeting Professionals International (MPI) in the spring of 2019. The CMM program is a three-pronged educational approach, that focuses on business management, leadership, and meeting management.

Michael is a member of MPI, the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), and the Coalition of Black Meeting Planners. He is also a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the New York Society of Association Executives (NYSAE).
